Purnkuti NGO providing education to the
Children of Sex Workers In Pune’s Red Light Area

Pune (P&V news service):- Education is the most important weapon anyone can possess in today’s world, carrying this thought, Purnkuti NGO which works for Women & Children from Red light zone of Pune launched a study material for Children staying in this area. (Children of Female Sex workers).
Purnkuti started its journey with a purpose of engaging children during the pick working hours of their mothers.
Gradually the purpose started shifting from engaging the children to education which led to purnkuti starting its own Learning centre in Budhwar Peth.
“We aim to bridge the Gap between Physical Age and mental age of the children at our learning centre. A child might be 13 years old physically, but can’t even read or write properly” said Dr. Swati Bharti (Child Psycologist) who is one of the founding members and knowledge partner of purnkuti.
Study material incorporates different techniques and excercises and helps in cognitive and language development of a child.
The study material is helpful for children between 5 to 15 years of age, keeping in mind their mental age.
The study material is child friendly and bridges academic age gap of the child, which is an issue of real concern these days.
Kids and teachers were felicitated by purnkuti president Mrs Ranjana singh, On further conversation with Sneha Bharti (Founder & secretary at Purnkuti) says they now plan to Formally admit the children to good schools where they can build a better future for themselves. She also looks forward to provide sustainable employment opportunity for the female sex workers who want to leave the profession and start a new life. Purnkuti is an NGO founded in 2011 which works in women and child development space.
They currently work in Bihar, Maharashtra & Telangana.
It is currently managed and looked upon by its standing President, Mrs Ranjana Singh.
