Pune (P&V News Service) : MMF Hospitals Association’s Ratna Memorial Hospital recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art Cancer Care Unit at it’s premises on S.B road.
Director board members of MMF Hospitals Association including Dr. Subhash Kale, Senior Trustee, Mr. Shrikrishna R Chitale , Director, Dr. Anand V Joshi , Director, Dr. Abhijit S Kale , Director, Dr. Ashish L Atre, Director , Mr. Anirudh Deshpande ,Director along with Dr. Gajanan Kanitkar , Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Sanket Bankar, Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Reshma Puranik ,Medical Oncologist, Dr. Vikas Kothavade ,Radiation Oncologist were present on the occasion .
The oncology services will include onco physician , radiation oncologist and onco surgeon along with weekly tumour marker OPD. This is in addition to the already existing day care center for chemotherapy.
Dr. Anand Joshi, Director, MMF Hospitals Association’s Ratna Memorial Hospital said that many a times the patients have to meet different experts at different timings according to their availability which increases the overall diagnosis time and start the line of treatment right away . The new initiative will bring together onco physician , radiation oncologist and onco surgeon on one platform and one OPD. The expert team in the tumour marker board includes Dr. Gajanan Kanitkar , surgical oncologist , Dr. Reshma Puranik, medical oncologist, Dr. Sanket Bankar, surgical oncologist and Dr. Vikas Kothavade, radiation oncologist .
Dr. Gajanan Kanitkar , Surgical Oncologist and Onco Physician Dr. Reshma Puranik stressed on the need to remove fear that exists in common people about Cancer. Although the number of cancer cases are rising , there is a need to educate people that world class cancer treatments are available with good survival rates and they should approach the right experts .
Dr. Subhash Kale, Senior Trustee, Maharashtra Medical Foundation said that the Maharashtra Medical Foundation was established in 1978. The foundation has been working on values and principles keeping the focus on the patients.
