Pune (P&V News service) :Marathi artists have made their mark at the Kerala International Festival by winning important awards such as directing and best short film. Under the poverty line directed by Makrand Anaspure, the short film won the award for directing and short film at the festival, while the Marathi short film Chaa Biscuit won the award for best first director.
The awards were distributed by playwright Bhagyashree Desai, veteran writer Subhash Chandra Jadhav, veteran critic Shrikant Kulkarni and veteran photographer Ram Zond. Short films from various countries including India were screened at the festival.
Kerala won Hip Hope Best Documentary, Viva won Best Malayalam Short Film and Payal Mukherjee won Best Actress. Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte won the award for Best Student Short Film while The Kitchen won the award for Best Experimental Short Film.
Bhagyashree Desai said that short films have become a means of experimentation for the youth. Many young people who want to pursue a career in the film industry can test their merits at low cost through short films.
Makrand Anaspure said that it is a challenge for an artist to present his story effectively in the shortest possible time. I am happy that this short film has been able to present the plight of farmers in Maharashtra below the poverty line.

केरळ आंतरराष्ट्रीय महोत्सवात दिग्दर्शन आणि सर्वोत्कृष्ट लघुपट अशी महत्त्वाची पारितोषिके पटकावून मराठी कलाकारांनी आपली छाप उमटवली. मकरंद अनासपुरे दिग्दर्शित दारिद्र्यरेषेखाली या लघुपटाने महोत्सवात दिग्दर्शन आणि लघुपटाचे पारितोषिक पटकावले तर चहा बिस्कीट या मराठी लघुपटाने सर्वोत्कृष्ट प्रथम दिग्दर्शनाचे पारितोषिक पटकावले. नाट्य निर्मात्या अभिनेत्री भाग्यश्री देसाई, ज्येष्ठ लेखक सुभाषचंद्र जाधव, ज्येष्ठ समीक्षक श्रीकांत कुलकर्णी, ज्येष्ठ छायाचित्रकार राम झोंड यांच्या हस्ते पारितोषिक वितरण करण्यात आले. भारतासह विविध देशातील लघुपट या महोत्सवामध्ये दाखविण्यात आले. केरला हीप होप सर्वोत्कृष्ट माहितीपट ठरला तर व्हिवा या लघुपटाला सर्वोत्कृष्ट मल्याळम लघुपटाचे तसेच सर्वोत्कृष्ट अभिनेत्रीसाठी पायल मुखर्जी यांना सन्मानित करण्यात आले. फिर मिलेंगे चलते चलते या लघुपटाला सर्वोत्कृष्ट विद्यार्थी लघुपटाचे पारितोषिक मिळाले तर द किचन या लघुपटाला ने सर्वोत्कृष्ट प्रायोगिक लघुपटाचे पारितोषिक मिळाले. भाग्यश्री देसाई म्हणाल्या लघुपट हे तरुणांसाठी प्रयोगाचे माध्यम झाले आहे. चित्रपट क्षेत्रामध्ये अनेक तरुण करियर करू इच्छितात अशा तरुणांना लघुपटाच्या माध्यमातून कमी खर्चामध्ये आपली गुणवत्ता तपासून पाहता येते. मकरंद अनासपुरे म्हणाले कमीत कमी वेळामध्ये आपली गोष्ट प्रभावीपणे मांडणे हे कलाकारासाठी आव्हान असते . दारिद्र्यरेषेखाली या लघुपटातून महाराष्ट्रातील शेतकऱ्यांच्या व्यथा मांडता आल्या याचा मला आनंद आहे.
