Pune: Pune Institute of Business Management (PIBM), Pirangut Campus, is organizing a special “Cleanliness Campaign” and “Cleanliness Festival” from September 25 to October 2, 2025. In response to the nationwide call made by the respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this week-long initiative has been launched with the goal of dedicating time to national service and cleanliness; the announcement will coincide with Gandhi Jayanti, said Raman Preet, Chairman and Executive Director of PIBM Group of Institutes.

A majority of the students in the institution, as volunteers, will be actively participating in dedicated “Shramdan” (voluntary labour) activities throughout the week. Students are focusing on cleaning public spots and major roads in areas such as the Lavasa Khind area, Pirangut Khind, around the Pirangut campus, Bhugav, and the Bhukoom highway and adjacent zones. Over the past two days, with the assistance of local gram panchayat staff, students have collected approximately 15 to 20 tractor-loads of waste to clean the area. Under the guidance of Dr. B. Naresh, Jivansingh Thakur, Prof. Mayuresh Shendurnikar, and Datta Jadhav, students Dhruvi Chavda, Pearl Sankla, Prakhar Paranjpe, and Shweta Tiwari are leading the cleanliness mission.

Commenting on the initiative, Raman Preet, Chairman and Executive Director of PIBM Group of Institutes, said, “Our institution regards social responsibility as a core component of leadership training. By taking active part in this ‘Cleanliness Festival,’ we wish to instill in our future managers a strong sense of patriotism and community ownership. This initiative is a sincere effort to repay society’s debt.”

Speaking about the cleanliness campaign, students Dhruvi Chavda, Pearl Sankla, Prakhar Paranjpe, and Shweta Tiwari said that in response to the college’s appeal, more than 300 students have joined the initiative. Yesterday, 70 boys and girls participated, and today another 70 took part; more students are expected to join over the coming days. They pointed out that in this area local societies, industrial companies, and hotels dispose of waste; despite instructions from the gram panchayat administration, large quantities of waste continue to be dumped here. To curb this, they said, it is necessary to install CCTV cameras and impose punitive actions.
