Pune: In its concerted efforts to fight against drugs, the much-celebrated apla Pune Marathon this year has gone global. Riding on Pune’s unmatched marathon legacy, the Pune World marathon 2025, scheduled on Sunday 12th October by 4:00 am(Category wise) from Shri Shiv Chatrapati sports complex,Balewadi , Marathon is expected to witness participation of about 10,000 runners, including elite athletes, international runners, running communities, corporate teams, defence and police personnel, students, NGOs, and fitness enthusiasts from across India.
This information was given in a press conference organized at PYC Hindu Gymkhana in Pune,at this time, Loha Foundation Secretary and Race Organizer Ravindra Wani, Loha Foundation President Ms.Sanjana Lall, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Pune Mr. Sainath Thombre, Iron Man Dr. Kaustubh Radkar were present.
Organised by LOHA foundation, and the title sponsorship of Panchshil Realty, the Pune World Marathon has raised a total prize fund of Rs. 19.53 lakh. There will be rewards for elite athletes as well as age group champions.
The Pune world Marathon will begin from Shri Shiv Chatrapati sports complex,Balewadi and move towards Radha chowk before joining Baner road to head towards Sai Howland then to Balewadi High Street to Dasara chowk. From there on the run will take Aundh-Baner link road cross Babasaheb Ambedkar bridge, new DP road, Kaspate chowk before entering BRT to reach Jagtap fairyland to Dange chowk, Punawale chowk,sant Tukaram Maharaj bridge, and then Adarshnagar BRT before taking turns turn at Nigdi bridge to head towards Shri shiv Chhatrapati sports complex for the finish.
Carrying forward the legacy theme of “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Run”, the Pune World Marathon continues its mission to spread awareness about drug-free living and promote a culture of health, fitness, and positivity across society.
Secretary of the LOHA Foundation Ravindra V. Wani, who is also the Race Organiser, said, “Pune already has a strong running culture, and this international upgrade is a celebration of that spirit. The Pune World Marathon 2025 will showcase our city on the global stage while uniting society against drugs and towards a healthier lifestyle.”
Ms. Sanjana Lall, President, LOHA Foundation, said “A marathon is not just about running. While we celebrate the spirit of fitness, we also recognise our duty to give back to society.
