Suryadatta Institute Students to Play Doctors, Nurses and Pharmacists
Pune: In an effort to provide practical knowledge and hands-on experience to students of Physiotherapy, Nursing, Pharmacy, Hospitality Management, Interior Design and other disciplines, the Suryadatta Education Foundation has announced an innovative initiative – the ‘Suryadatta Dhanvantari Hospital’ (mock hospital–skill lab). The symbolic hospital will be set up at the Bansi-Ratna Auditorium in the Bavdhan campus of Suryadatta Group of Institutes. This annual exercise is part of the Suryadatta Multi-Disciplinary Integrated Campus concept.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President of Suryadatta Education Foundation, the three-day initiative will be held from Monday, September 22 to Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Students will step into the roles of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and hospital staff, gaining first-hand exposure to healthcare operations. The project aims to translate classroom learning into real-world application, helping future healthcare professionals develop competence, sensitivity and entrepreneurial leadership skills.
The mock hospital will feature OPD, IPD, ICU, Radiodiagnosis and Medical departments, where students will undergo training. They will also practice handling emergencies, basic life support demonstrations, mock drills, and administrative tasks such as hospital records, billing and discharge summaries. Public health awareness stalls, posters and interactive activities will be set up for citizens. Prof. Dr. Chordia also shared that a dedicated children’s play area is being designed for the kids of patients visiting the hospital. He further expressed the intention of starting a real Suryadatta hospital in the future.
The three-day initiative will be inaugurated at 11 am on Monday (September 22). On this occasion, 30 doctors, healthcare professionals and eminent personalities from the pharmaceutical sector will be felicitated with the ‘Suryadatta Dhanvantari Healthcare Excellence Award’. The program will remain open to all students, parents and citizens free of cost. The second and third day will focus on patient education and public health awareness campaigns. A blood donation camp will be organized on the concluding day, Wednesday (September 24).
Speaking about the initiative, Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya said, “This activity will build students’ confidence in patient handling, enhance their skills and strengthen coordination among various health disciplines. It will also provide a deep understanding of hospital operations and administrative processes.” The initiative involves active participation from Suryadatta College of Physiotherapy, Suryadatta College of Nursing Paramedical Sciences & Technology, Suryadatta College of Pharmacy Healthcare & Research, Pune Institute of Applied Technology, and Suryadatta College of Hospitality Management & Travel Tourism.
