Pune : VishwaRaj Hospital, Loni recently organised a special program to mark 50 paediatric cardiology surgeries. The procedures are bringing much relief to families of children with congenital defects who would otherwise find it difficult to find access to proper treatment . These surgeries are done at affordable or nominal costs.The initiative has been successfully carried out under the leadership of Dr.Aditi Karad, Member trustee and joint secretary MAEER’s MIT, Executive Director -VishwaRaj Hospital,Loni.
Mr Sujit Kumar, Director Medical Services , Mr Sachin Katkade,Medical Operations Head, Dr Ashish Banpurkar, Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist, Dr Chandrkant Sahare HoD, Pediatric and Neonatology, Dr Anil Goswami Consultant Pediatrician, Mr Rajesh Pawar, Head Operations, Mr Lokesh Raghuvanshi Marketing Head, Mr.Kiran Kulkarni, Assistant Manager Marketing, Mr Sitaram Dhas, Medical Social worker, Mr. Suresh Shitole, Camp coordinator, were present on the occasion.
Dr. Ashish Banpurkar, Paediatric Cardiologist at VishwaRaj Hospital, Loni said that we conduct regular screening camps in rural areas in Pune District near Baramati,Saswad, Lonand, Phaltan, Indapur and other towns .The screening includes clinical examination and evaluation and checking any other medical reports that they may have . If we find that the child needs to be screened further, we bring them to our hospital. The procedures conducted include ASD ( Atrial Septal Defect ) device closure, VSD ( Ventricular Septal Defect) which are the commonest to high end procedures like ductal stenting and transcathetral fontain completion . These structural defects need to be addressed early to ensure normal life for these children.
He added that these life saving procedures are carried out in state of the art facilities like cath lab, dedicated OT for paediatric cardiology procedures with a strong support from PICU and NICU. This milestone has been possible because of the strong team work from doctors, nursing and support staff and ground level social workers. Children as young as 3 days have been benefited with some of the most advanced and high end procedures .
