Pune: Jupiter Hospital, Pune, in association with Poona Surgical Society (PSS), successfully hosted a one-day CME on “Robotics for General Surgeons” at its state-of-the-art campus on 10th August. The focused academic event drew 82 registered delegates, with surgeons remaining engaged from the first lecture to the concluding session — a testament to the enthusiasm for robotic surgery in the general surgical community.
The CME delivered a rich blend of panel discussions and lectures covering a wide spectrum of robotic procedures:
* Panel Highlights: Robotic Bariatric Surgery, Robotic Cholecystectomy, Robotic Inguinal Hernia Repair, Robotic Ventral Hernia Repair, and Robotic Lateral Wall & Complex Hernia Repairs.
* Keynote Sessions: Ergonomics in Robotic Surgery, Insurance Approvals for Robotic Procedures, Robotic Thyroid Surgery, Robotic Pelvic Organ Prolapse Surgery, and an interactive talk on How to Build a Successful Robotic Surgery Program.
The sessions provided practical know-how, technical pearls, and strategic insights for both budding and experienced robotic surgeons. Discussions on new applications such as robotic thyroidectomy and pelvic organ prolapse surgery broadened perspectives on the future of the field.
“This was a one-of-a-kind, single-theme CME dedicated to promoting robotic surgery for general surgeons,” said the organizing team from Jupiter Hospital’s Department of Surgery. “Our goal was to create an open platform for learning, exchange of ideas, and inspiration to adopt robotic technology in everyday surgical practice.”
Dr. Neeraj Rayate, Consultant – General Surgery at the hospital, said, “Robotic surgery is changing the way we think about surgery. Techniques like robotic bariatric and hernia surgeries are revolutionising the way we approach complex cases, offering patients quicker recovery and more precise results.” This CME was a great opportunity to share knowledge and explore how this technology can become part of our routine practice, he said.
Dr. Satish Pattanshetti, Consultant – General Surgery and Bariatric Surgery, at the hospital, added, “The world of surgery is evolving fast. Robotic surgery has opened new possibilities for less invasive, more effective treatments that significantly improve patient outcomes.” He said this CME highlighted the tremendous potential of robotics in improving patient care.
The event reinforced Jupiter Hospital’s commitment to advancing surgical excellence through innovation, education, and collaboration.
