PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital and Sankara Eye Foundation, USA Partner to Bring World-Class Eye Care to Solapur

Pune (Voice news service):- PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital, Pune, in collaboration with Sankara Eye Foundation, USA, is set to launch a new, state-of-the-art eye hospital in Solapur. The new facility, named the PBMA’s Shankarsheth Sable Eye Hospital, Late Nagesh Karajgi complex, will be located on a two-acre plot at Khed on Barshi Road and spans 54,000 sq. ft., aiming to provide comprehensive, high-quality eye care services to the region.

The Vastu Pujan ceremony for the hospital was held on Monday, 11th August, with key dignitaries in attendance, including trustees of the Poona Blind Men’s Association (PBMA): Shri Rajesh Shah, President; Shri Sudhir Sable, Vice-President; Shri Manish Jain, Vice-President and Director of Kumar Properties; Shri Parvez Bilimoria, Executive Director of H.V. Desai Eye Hospital; and Ms. Sheetal Navani of Desai Brothers, Pallavi Sable. The event was also graced by Mr. Shashank Jhawre of SANKARA Eye Foundation, USA, and Dr. Rahul Deshpande, Medical Director of H.V. Desai Eye Hospital, Pune.

The land for the hospital was generously donated by Shri Kumar Karajgi of Solapur, while major donations were provided by Shri Sudhir Sable and his family, and significant support came from the SANKARA Eye Foundation, USA.

Initially, the hospital will offer comprehensive eye examinations, investigations, and cataract surgeries. Following its formal inauguration in September, it will expand its services in a phased manner to include other sub-specialty services. The facility, equipped with four modular operation theaters, is dedicated to eradicating avoidable blindness and will provide free cataract surgeries for economically weaker sections of the Solapur region.PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital has been a leader in ophthalmology since its establishment in 2000. Operating a tertiary care unit in Pune, a secondary hospital in Nandurbar, and 41 vision centers, the institution has performed over 850,000 eye surgeries, with more than 550,000 of them free of charge.
