Sindhi Culture Showcased Through Cheti Chand Festival
Sindhu Seva Dal Celebrates the 1075th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Sai Jhulelal & Sindhi New Year

Pune: The atmosphere was filled with devotion as devotees chanted “Ayo Lal Jhulelal!”, performed the aarti of Bhagwan Sai Jhulelal, and adorned his divine idol with reverence. The festival witnessed a melodious Sindhi music concert, artistic dance performances, and the distribution of traditional prasad including chaat, samosas, and sweet rice. The rhythmic echoes of “Lal Jhule Lal, Jhule Lal!” created a deeply spiritual and cultural ambiance, offering a mesmerizing glimpse of Sindhi heritage.
The Cheti Chand Festival, organized by Sindhu Seva Dal, marked the Sindhi New Year and the 1075th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Sai Jhulelal. The grand celebrations took place at Deccan College Banquet Hall & Grounds in Yerawada, where thousands of Sindhi families from Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and nearby areas gathered to celebrate. The event commenced with the ritualistic worship of Sai Jhulelal’s idol, followed by cultural programs, devotional songs, bhajans, and a grand community feast (Mahaprasad), making the festival a truly special occasion.
The musical concert featured renowned Mumbai-based artists Shubham Nathani, Priyanshi Karvani, Ritika Sundarani, and Aman Sundarani, alongside a team of 17 talented singers. The Sindhi Symphony Band and Orchestra by Devansh Entertainment captivated the audience with their live performances. A stunning dance presentation by Generation Next Dance Academy further enriched the evening’s entertainment. The festival concluded with a community feast (Mahaprasad), bringing together over 4,500 Sindhi community members who relished the joyous occasion.
The grand aarti of Sai Jhulelal was performed by Haresh Abichandani, Founder & Managing Director of Millennium Semiconductors India. The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Sindhu Seva Dal President Ashok Vaswani, Founding Member Ishwar Kripalani, Former Presidents Manohar Ferwani, Suresh Jethwani, Peter Dalwani, Deepak Wadhwani, and Vijay Daswani, along with Vice President Purushottam Paryani, Secretary Sachin Talreja, Treasurer Rajendra Ferwani, Co-Treasurer Nilesh Ferwani, PR Officer Devendra Chawla, and Jai Pinjani.
