Eminent social worker Dr. Ruma Devi honored with ‘Surya Bhushan National Award 2023’ by ‘Suryadatta’
Pune: Eminent social worker, Fashion Designer from Barmer, Rajasthan & winner of Nari Shakti Award at the hands of President of India, Dr. Ruma Devi honored with ‘Surya Bhushan National Award 2023’ by Suryadatta Group of Institutes and Suryadatta Women Empowerment Leadership Academy (SWELA). Dr. Ruma Devi has made 30 thousand women self-sufficient through Rural Development and Chetna Sthana in Barmer, Rajasthan. Suryadatta honored her with this award for her social and women’s confidence boosting work.
Dr. Devi received this award at the hands of Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President of Suryadatta Group of Institutes and Sushma Chordiya, Vice President of Suryadatta Group of Institutes. Akshit Kushal, Executive Director, Prashant Pitaliya, Director, Principal Vandana Pande, Nayna Godambe, Roshani Jain, Sayali Deshpande, CA Harshwardhan Deshpande, Sumata Sardar, Snehal Pawar and many others were present on the occasion at at Suryadatta’s Bavdhan Campus.
Dr. Ruma Devi accepted this award sincerely and said that I am fortunate to receive this award on behalf my all colleagues in this movement. I am thankful towards Suryadatta Group of Institutes and Chordiya family. We are trying to get royal recognition for the traditional, tribal and rare handicrafts and their businesses. Women should become partners in development by becoming educationally and economically empowered.
Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya said, “Dr. Ruma Devi is a first lady handcrafts worker in Rajasthan & her work is notable. By overcoming all obstacles and difficulties, she has made rural women self-reliant. She started this movement in 2006 and today it is spread across the globe. In 2016, she has awarded with Nari Shakti Award at the hands of then President of India Shri Ramnath Kovind. She has obtained her doctorate in ‘Art and Textiles’ from Mahatma Jyotirao Phule University, Jaipur. We are grateful to honor such great personality.
Dr. Ruma Devi appreciated the 2100 products made at the ‘Spark 2023’ exhibition organized by the students of Suryadutta Institute of Fashion Technology. Also, she invited students of Suryadatta for internship with her. Sushma Chordiya gave the vote of thanks.
