Pune: In light of recent fire accidents in developing cities of Maharashtra, the government and the experts are taking major steps towards the Fire Safety guidelines to take preventive measures against Evacuation. The panel discussion was held on Wednesday at the Ramee Grand Hotel & SPA with regards to the importance of Fire Evacuation Lift. The key expert in panel were Dr. Vikram Mehta, Managing Director of SPARTAN Fire Evacuation Lift, Dr. Deepak Monga, Fire Safety and Evacuation Expert, and Mr. Nitin Patil, Technical Sales Expert. It has been noticed that the major concern for the high-rise building residents is the Fire Evacuation during the Fire Accidents. A preventive measure can prevent the loss of lives and assets during the fatal fire accidents.
Among the top seven major cities, Pune recorded the highest quarter-on-quarter growth of 13 percent in house sales. With 14,100 residential units sold in Q3 2022, Pune accounted for 16 percent of the total housing sales among the top seven cities. With such a huge increase, the question is, can we say that all high-rise buildings in Pune are fire evacuation ready? In Diwali itself, 17 fire accidents were reported by the Pune Fire Brigade Department. The numbers are huge but no precautionary measures have been taken by the builders or developers to save people’s lives and their dream home.
Dr. Vikram Mehta, Manufacturer and fondly known as the Fire Evacuation Man of Maharashtra said, “One of the basic requirements for any fire brigade team to evacuate people from high-rise buildings in time during a fire emergency is a fire evacuation lift that can reach the upper floors quickly and safely. Residents of high-rise buildings can be truly safe if builders and developers install fire evacuation lifts according to the Maharashtra Energy Department circular and government guidelines.”
Speaking at the event, Fire Safety and Evacuation Expert Dr. Deepak Monga said, “20th July 2022 was a life changing day for us as the advisory came from Maharashtra Energy Department on installing the Fire Evacuation Lift in buildings of height above 70 meters. This visionary step was taken under the Shinde Government. Fire Evacuation Lift is considered to be a new PPE ‘Public Protection Equipment’ that reaches on time to evacuate on time and thus saves lives and assets. The fire evacuation lift is designed as per the fire lift standards. The cabin is made of non-combustible material, and all side-enclosed panels are filled with ceramic wool for a 2-hr. fire rating. The only motive of the fire evacuation lift is Serving in saving Occupants’ Lives, Assets & Assisting Fire Fighters in timely Evacuation. Fire Evacuation Lift is compulsory in new high-rise buildings to have Fire-Free years ahead.”
