Road Safety Cup cricket match organised in Pune on 11th December

Awareness about road safety and precautions through the most popular sport cricke

Pune – Public awareness campaigns are always conducted in urban and rural areas to increase awareness about traffic rules and road safety. Through various programs motorists are motivated to follow traffic rules but many motorists do not follow the rules and many motorists are still not aware of many traffic rules. It is often seen that most of the accidents on the roads are due to the negligence of the drivers themselves, which puts their lives and that of others in danger. In a recent incident, after the sudden death of the late Cyrus Mistry, an Indian businessman and chairman of the Tata Group, recognizing the need to take concrete steps on road accidents and safety, the Board for Veteran Cricket in India, a government recognized Body (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, New Delhi) has organised ‘Road Safety Cricket Cup’ which is India’s most popular sport to spread awareness and social message about road safety and precautions on 11th December at Shivaji Nagar Police Ground. It is conceptualised and conducted by  the Chairman of the Board Meehir Kulkarni, under the cooperation and guidance of President  of the Board Nitin Gadkari,Road Transport and Highways Minister. Meehir Kulkarni gave this information in the press conference.

Government officials from different sectors are coming together to support this initiative. Amitabh Gupta, Commissioner of Police Pune, Vikram Kumar, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Pune, Rahul Chavan, Assistant Charity Commissioner Pune and their colleagues enthusiastically participated in the Road Safety Cricket Cup. Kulkarni said that the cricket match between two teams Raging Lions (Pune Police) and SkyHawks (Pune Municipal Corporation) will be played between 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on December 11 and will be open to the public. After the match, the cup will be given to the winning team and trophy to each participating player in the prize distribution ceremony by the dignitaries.
