BAI, Pune Installation Ceremony of new office bearers held
Pune (P&V News Service): Two years of raging pandemic, followed by steeply rising material costs is having a deep impact on the construction industry and contracting sector. Calculations have gone haywire and it is difficult to make profit opined various experts The installation ceremony of Builders Association of India ( BAI ) Pune Centre , for the year 2022 -23 was organised at the Residency Club on Thursday . Atul Chavan , Chief Engineer PWD , Pune Region was the Chief Guest while Rajendra Athavale , Vice President BAI West Zone and Dattatray Mule , State Chairman , BAI Maharashtra were the guest of honour . Er. Harpreet Singh Anand , newly installed Chairman BAI Pune along with his new board members , outgoing Chairman of BAI Pune Ashok Atkekar. The new office bearers include Harpreet Singh Anand, Chairman , D. S. Chaudhari Vice – Chairman, Ajay Gujar Hon Secretary and Mahesh Maideo as Hon. Treasurer Sanjay Apte and Karan Pawar were the compeers for the event . Outgoing Chairman BAI Pune Ashok Atkekar delivered the welcome speech . Dattatray Mule , State Chairman , BAI Maharashtra said that whenever a person buys a house , the entire family gets involved and therefore quality, commitment are important to maintain the trust of the people. He added that two years of pandemic followed by rising construction material costs is having a huge impact. The costs have increased multifold and the calculations have gone haywire, it is difficult to make profits. We have put forth our difficulties and suggestions to various government departments. Rajendra Athavale , Vice President BAI West Zone said that rising input costs mean increasing investment. The rise is multifold and therefore even the decreased interest rates on bank loans are not affordable. The situation calls for BAI to do more research and find new alternatives and innovations. More younger people should get involved in the BAI chapters. Chief Guest Atul Chavan , Chief Engineer PWD Pune Region informed that the committee under his chairmanship has drafted a resolution and submitted it to the government. He added that the construction industry has the capacity to impact life and lifestyle of people and bring joy . Hurdles will come and should be used as stepping stones , he said . Er. Harpreet Singh Anand , newly installed Chairman BAI Pune said that the focus of the initiatives in new year would be on innovations and learning through various site visits, interaction with experts and innovators, technical sessions etc.Hon.Secretary Ajay Gujar proposed the vote of thanks .
