Upskilling, creativity key to staying relevant in AI era, says Achyut Godbole
Pune: Continuous upskilling, creativity and personality development will be essential for professionals to remain relevant as artificial intelligence (AI) transforms industries and the nature of employment, technology and economics expert and author Achyut Godbole said at a national conference on technology and innovation organised by Aryans Group of Companies.
Speaking on ‘Artificial Intelligence Beyond Tomorrow’s Frontier’ at AW TIS 2026, a three-day conference being held at Hotel Vivanta in Hinjawadi, Godbole said AI would significantly alter everyday life and workplaces over the next decade. Its applications are already expanding across sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, retail and manufacturing in countries including China, Japan and the United States, he said.
“Concerns about AI replacing jobs are partly justified. However, individuals who acquire new skills, develop their creativity and work on their personality will be better equipped to succeed,” Godbole said. He added that predicting the scale of technological change and the number of jobs that could be displaced over the next five to 10 years remained difficult.
Godbole also spoke about the emergence of AI agents, robotics and more advanced AI systems. While technology was progressing rapidly, questions about whether AI could possess emotions, creativity and consciousness remained unresolved, he said.
The conference brought together representatives from industry, technology and research to discuss developments in emerging technologies and innovation. Former Gujarat minister Atmaram Parmar, addressing the gathering, said India’s emphasis on self-reliance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had helped promote domestic industries and businesses.
“It is a matter of pride that a Pune-based company such as Aryans Group of Companies manufactures products that contribute to the country’s security. Businesses must also recognise their responsibility towards society and contribute to the nation,” Parmar said.
The event was attended by Aryans Group of Companies chairman Mukund Jagtap, chief executive officer Manohar Jagtap and co-executive chairperson Smita Shitole-Jagtap, among others.
On the second day of the conference, Vishal Patil, vice-president of MosChip, discussed India’s position in technology and research in comparison with other countries. His session covered artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, wireless technology, 5G and data security.
Former ISRO scientist Dr Navalkishore Gupta spoke about India’s space technology programmes, including the Mars Orbiter Mission and Chandrayaan missions. He outlined the technological developments behind these missions, including the use of liquid hydrogen and research associated with hydrogen technology for India’s lunar exploration programme.
