Madhuri Misal calls for collective action to reduce carbon footprint at CII GreenPro Summit 2026

Pune: The CII GreenPro summit Day 1 concluded with the prestigious GreenPro Awards, celebrating organisations that have demonstrated outstanding commitment towards developing environmentally preferable products and integrating sustainability into manufacturing and business practices. The awards recognised pioneering efforts across multiple sectors, reinforcing the importance of innovation, transparency and environmental stewardship in driving India’s green industrial transformation.

During the GreenPro Awards Ceremony Smt. Madhuri Misal, Hon’ble State Minister, Urban Development Department, Government of Maharashtra; Shri Pratik D. Bharne, Regional Director, Central Pollution Control Board, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India; Mr Kamal Bali, Chairman, CII GreenPro Council; Dr Poorva Keskar, Past Chair, CII-IGBC Pune Chapter, and Mr Tushar Yeole, Co-Chairman, CII-IGBC Pune Chapter, commended the 143 awardees and unanimously stated how climate action requires collective responsibility across governments, businesses and citizens.

Green products represent an important bridge between sustainable production and responsible consumption. The transition towards green products and cleaner production systems is central to India’s environmental priorities. Certification frameworks and industry-led initiatives such as GreenPro complement regulatory efforts by encouraging voluntary excellence and continuous improvement across manufacturing ecosystems.

Smt. Madhuri Misal, Minister of State for Urban Development, Government of Maharashtra, last evening said reducing India’s carbon footprint requires collective efforts from government, industry and citizens. Addressing the valedictory session of the CII GreenPro Summit 2026, she said while governments are introducing incentives for solar energy, waste management, recycling and cleaner technologies, environmental sustainability can only be achieved when every stakeholder adopts greener practices.

Speaking on measures to accelerate sustainability, she said governments are already promoting various green and sustainability initiatives. Referring to the transition towards electric mobility, the minister said adoption of electric buses must be backed by adequate charging infrastructure, trained manpower and maintenance capabilities. She observed that green technologies need a supporting ecosystem to ensure long-term success.

Smt Misal, also noted that governments are already encouraging sustainable practices through subsidies and other initiatives. She also said wider adoption of environmentally friendly products should be encouraged and suggested that measures to make such products more affordable could help increase their use.

Congratulating and commending 143 CII GreenPro award winners, Smt. Misal said protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. She urged industry and citizens to work together to safeguard natural resources, adding that a green revolution is essential to ensure a sustainable future for coming generations.
