“Beyond Vision” M.A. Rangoonwala College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre, Pune

Creates History with India’s Largest Magnification Masterclass for Undergraduate Dental Students

Pune : “200 Smiles … One Vision” – a theme that truly came alive at M.A. Rangoonwala College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre, Pune, as 200 undergraduate dental students trained under magnification, taking their first step into the world of precision-based dentistry.

The event was conducted on the occasion of World Endodontic Day, in association with the Indian Endodontic Society, marking a historic milestone in dental education as the nation’s first and largest Magnification Masterclass for undergraduate students.

Organized by the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, “Beyond Vision” was conceptualized and led by Dr. Vivek Hegde, Professor and Head of the Department. His dedicated team of faculty and postgraduate students worked closely with him to make this event a reality. He has been conducting microscope-based Magnification Masterclasses in collaboration with the Indian Endodontic Society, inspiring young clinicians across the country to embrace precision and excellence through enhanced visualization.

Nearly 200 students participated in the hands-on session, each receiving individual dental loupes and engaging in live demonstrations showcasing how magnification enhances clinical precision, visibility, and ergonomics. A detailed lecture on the evolution and impact of magnification in modern dentistry encouraged students to adopt precision techniques early in their clinical journey.

The loupes for the event were generously provided by Admetec – Haitech Medical Solutions Pvt. Ltd., globally recognized for their advanced optical systems and commitment to supporting education and innovation in dental ergonomics.

Mrs. Abeda Inamdar, Hon. Vice President, M.C.E. Society, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation and warm wishes for the success of “Beyond Vision.” She commended the college and the department for their forward-thinking initiative and expressed that such
events reflect the institution’s constant commitment to excellence and innovation in dental education.

Dr. Parvez Inamdar also extended his good wishes to the organizing team, appreciating the remarkable scale and vision of the event. He applauded the efforts taken to introduce advanced technology like magnification at the undergraduate level, emphasizing how such initiatives keep the institution aligned with global standards in dental practice.

Principal Dr. Ramandeep Dugal appreciated the success of the workshop, commending the department for pioneering a one-of-its-kind event that offered undergraduate students a valuable opportunity to experience magnification-based hands-on training. She highlighted that such experiential learning at an early stage shapes competent, confident, and ergonomically aware dental professionals.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Vivek Hegde highlighted that, “Magnification is the future of dentistry, and it should be incorporated right from the undergraduate level so that students can adapt early to precision-based clinical practice. The use of magnification not only enhances the quality of work but also improves posture, visibility, and long-term professional efficiency.”

It was heartwarming to witness the “Happy 200 Smiles” of undergraduate students, who expressed immense joy and gratitude for the experience, sharing overwhelmingly positive feedback about how the session opened a new dimension in their understanding of clinical precision and ergonomics.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, celebrating a historic milestone for MARDC the first college in India to conduct such a large-scale magnification training program for undergraduate dental students.

As the curtains closed on “Beyond Vision,” one message resonated across the campus “Because when training begins early, excellence becomes habit.”
