Poona District & Metropolitan Badminton Association (PDMBA) celebrated the National Sports Day 2025 with lots of enthusiasm and pomp

Pune: The program titled “Celebrating National Sports Day 2025 With The Poona Game” was attended by 100s of Badminton lovers. It was organised at the P. E. Society’s Modern PDMBA Sports Complex and it coincided with the Quarter Finals of Yonex Sunrise India Junior International Grand Prix tournament being played at the venue.

The function was graced by the Pune Loksabha MP and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation & Co-Operation Hon. Shri. Murlidhar Mohol. Shri. Mohol, himself a former national level wrestler proudly adorned the special playing T Shirt made for him carrying his name as “Mohol – Bharat”.

The function began with the national song “Vande Mataram” followed by Shri. Mohol offering floral tributes to the portrait of Bharatmata and Padma Bhushan Major Dhyanchand whose birth anniversary is celebrated as the National Sports Day.

Shri. Mohol tried his hand at the racket sport with the rising star from Pune and Bharat’s top doubles player in under 15 girls category Ms. Sharayu Ranjane.

PDMBA office bearers including Shri. Aniruddha Deshpande – President, Shri. Shashank Halbe – Sr. Vice-President, CA. Ranjeet Natu – Hony. General Secretary, Shri. Sushil Jadhav – Vice-President, Shri. Sarang Lagu – Hony. Treasurer and Shri. Rajeev Bag – Secretary (Tournaments). Internationally acclaimed Badminton Referee CA. Girish Natu was also present on the occassion along with the entire team of technical officials and volunteers of the Grand Prix event.

Shri. Mohol gave the message of “Khelega India; Badhega India” on the occassion. He was presented with the tournament momento and the Coffee Table Book titled “The Poona Game”.
