FIEO and MITCON Organize ‘Export Conclave’ in Pune

Pune: The trajectory of India’s economy is steadily rising on the global stage, with increasing export opportunities not only at the national but also at the district level through various targeted schemes, said Dr. Ajay Sahai, Director General of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. Speaking at the recently held ‘Export Conclave’ organized jointly by FIEO, MITCON Pune, and Canara Bank, Dr. Sahai urged exporters to leverage industry-focused and export-promoting government initiatives to boost their export potential.

The event saw Dr. Sahai elaborate on the growing export economy, risks and opportunities in the e-commerce export sector, and government schemes supporting exporters. The conclave also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between FIEO and MITCON, followed by the inauguration of MITCON’s Pimpri-Chinchwad center by Dr. Sahai, expected to benefit around 700,000 to 800,000 students in the region. MITCON Chairman Ajay Agarwal, Managing Director Anand Chalwade, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Held at Hotel Novotel on Nagar Road, the program featured distinguished speakers including Amit Sharma from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Lata Radhakrishnan, Director General of the Foreign Exchange Department of the Reserve Bank of India, Arpita Sen, Managing Director of ECGC, Abhijeet Bansode, Director of India Post Pune Division, KJS Naik, Deputy Director of Canara Bank Treasury, and Anand Chalwade, Managing Director of MITCON. Over 200 exporters, entrepreneurs, and startup representatives participated in the conclave alongside senior officials from DGFT, India Post, Canara Bank, MITCON, and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC).

Dr. Sahai detailed recent provisions and reforms in the central government’s export policies, emphasizing that entrepreneurs and startups must seize the opportunity to drive the nation’s economic growth through exports. He noted that FIEO’s regional offices stand ready to support exporters and highlighted the expanding prospects in digital exports. “The Indian postal department offers numerous schemes to assist exporters, and the e-commerce export sector is rapidly growing. Entrepreneurs should capitalize on these elements to strengthen domestic trade and establish a significant footprint in global markets. Our goal is to achieve two trillion dollars in exports by 2030, and entrepreneurs must contribute to this vision,” he said.

Anand Chalwade expressed enthusiasm over the newly signed MoU, emphasizing the industrial growth in Pimpri-Chinchwad, which holds vast potential to boost Maharashtra’s exports. Export-supporting sectors are also emerging in regions like Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Ahilyanagar, Marathwada, and Khandesh. Chalwade highlighted the plans to offer export training programs, counseling, and mentoring, aiming to prepare around 1,000 exporters annually. “This will strengthen the state and national economies and create new employment opportunities,” he added. Departmental Director Mr. Tiwari assured full support from FIEO in this initiative.

Amit Sharma spoke on “Export Growth through Digital Medium,” emphasizing the development of district-level export centers. Lata Radhakrishnan outlined policies of the Reserve Bank related to export promotion, currency exchange regulations, and trade enhancement. Arpita Sen presented on the importance of export credit insurance for boosting exports.

Abhijeet Bansode elaborated on export facilitation schemes offered by the postal department, mentioning the availability of export services at the district level through postal export centers. He also highlighted direct parcel services and international mail product offerings that exporters can utilize. The event was managed by CS9 Entertainments, led by Chetan Giri.
