KEM hospital, Pune organized a workshop on Developmental Assessment Scales for Indian Infants (DASII)

Pune  : KEM Hospital, Pune, recently organised a six day workshop on Developmental Assessment Scales for Indian Infants (DASII), an Indian adaptation of Bayley scales. This is a gold standard to assess the development of infants till the age of 30 months.

The Scale provides developmental profiles of infants between age 1 month to 30 months. It helps to assess functioning in different domains of Motor and Mental development. This leads to early detection of delay, early intervention and improved quality of life of the babies, particularly ‘high risk’ babies discharged from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The participants from all over India included Neonatologists, Paediatricians, Psychologists and Developmental Paediatricians.

The workshop included lectures and demonstrations by various experts like neonatologists, geneticist, ENT specialist and Paediatric Orthopaedic surgeon. The main test was taught in a hands-on manner by the psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists.

Dr. Sudha Chaudhari, senior consultant paediatrician at KEM Hospital, Pune, said that KEM is the only center in India conducting this workshop for the last 13 years.

This workshop helped the participants in early detection of delays and to set up early intervention services in their respective centers.
