AIM SAMVAAD THE DELHI CHAPTER HOSTED AT AMITY INNOVATION INCUBATOR NOIDA AND SUPPORTED BY ATAL INNOVATION MISSION

Pune (Voice news service):-  The Delhi Chapter of AIM Samvaad, a collaborative platform for Atal Incubation Centres and Atal Community Innovation Centres was successfully hosted at Amity Innovation Incubator between 15-17th February 2024. The event brought together thought leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to foster dialogue, exchange ideas, and drive innovation in the startup ecosystem.

The workshop featured engaging sessions led by distinguished speakers, each providing valuable insights into various aspects of innovation, governance, grants, and compliance within the startup landscape.

Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Chairman and Chancellor of Amity University, expressed gratitude for the presence of CEOs, management teams, and entrepreneurs at the summit, emphasizing their crucial role as “enablers” and “block builders” of India’s brighter future. He stated, “We feel so privileged to have so many CEOs and management teams of the incubators as well as entrepreneurs, with us today. It is so inspiring to learn from you and witness the fire in your belly to do something and disrupt even major sectors. You are the enablers, the block builders of India’s brighter future, and I ask that we all work collaboratively in this journey, supporting and cheering each other on.”

Praising the efforts of the Atal Innovation Mission and Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, Dr. Chauhan stated, “Dr. Vaishnav’s efforts to facilitate the growth of the startup ecosystem in India are commendable, putting the country on the global map of innovation.”

Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, Mission Director for Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), emphasized the importance of creating a cultural change in universities to nurture entrepreneurship. He stated, “If we want to create a new culture, then you need a new way of doing things and keep doing it until it becomes an accepted practice and people begin to believe what you say more than what used to be accepted.”

Dr. Chauhan also highlighted the significant impact of their incubator, which has nurtured over 750 startups across 13 locations in India, with additional entrepreneurship facilitating centers in Tashkent, London, and Dubai. He shared their ambitious goal of incubating 5000 startups by 2030, with equity stakes in 1000, aiming to create a rich network of relationships and diverse perspectives to foster creativity and intellectual growth.

MedTech Mitra by ICMR

Dr. Suchita Markan, Scientist-E and Mission In-charge at the Medical Device & Diagnostics Mission Secretariat (MDMS), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, delivered an enlightening talk on MedTech Mitra. The initiative, a collaboration between NITI Aayog, ICMR, and CDSCO, aims to provide strategic guidance on clinical evaluation and regulatory facilitation to innovators of indigenous medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics.

Corporate Governance by IICA/Start-up Governance Framework

Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, emphasized the importance of corporate governance for startups, highlighting its role in ensuring sustainability and longevity.

HDFC Parivartan Grant

As HDFC continues to drive impactful social initiatives through Parivartan, they envision supporting and strengthening India’s incubation ecosystem through the HDFC Parivartan Grant. This grant empowers 12-15 deserving incubators, underlining their commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. Mr. Niranjan Demanna, AVP at HDFC Bank shared insights about the grant. Mr. Abhinav Mayra, Regional Product Manager for Startups in the North region highlighted that 90% of unicorns in India choose to bank with HDFC, showcasing their position as a trusted partner for the startup community.

Session on Compliance by Mr. Sambhav Mehrotra

Mr. Sambhav Mehrotra, a seasoned CA with extensive experience working with startups, addressed the importance of financial and legal compliance in startup operations.

Startup 20 FAISN and Special Address by Dr. Chintan Vaishnav and Dr. Aseem Chauhan

Dr. Aseem Chauhan and Dr. Chintan Vaishnav discussed the transformative role of incubators in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, exchanging views on the growth of India’s startup ecosystem, the enablement of the government through the Atal Innovation Centres and the Atal Community Innovation Centres and the innovation at the grassroots level, in the education space and beyond.

Dr. Vaishnav underscored the need for a cultural shift in universities to nurture entrepreneurship, emphasizing the importance of persistent efforts to establish new norms.

The event witnessed active participation from CEOs and management teams of startups. The Amity Innovation Incubator hosted 150 incubators during the event. Attendees engaged in breakout sessions, brainstorming ideas, discussing challenges, and exploring opportunities for innovation in various sectors.

AIM Samvaad 2.0 served as a platform for networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, further fueling the growth of the startup ecosystem in India.
