Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Co-operative Management (VAMNICOM) Marks 57th Foundation Day with Shri. Dilip Walse Patil

Pune: Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Co-operative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune, celebrated its 57th foundation day on January 15th, 2024, in the Shivneri Auditorium of the institute.

This occasion was graced by Shri. Dilip Walse Patil, (Hon’ble Minister of Cooperation, Government of Maharashtra) as the Chief Guest, Dr. Meenesh Shah, (Chairman National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Anand) and Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Gosavi, (Vice Chancellor, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)) as the Guest of Honuor. On this occasion, Anil Kawada (Commissioner of Cooperation and Registrar (Cooperative Societies), Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar (Sugar Commissioner of Maharashtra), Dr. Digambar Durgade (Chairman, PDCC), Shri. Sunil Chandere (Vice-Chairman, PDCC), Shri. Rajendra Patil (Chairman, Thane DCCB), B. N. Bhoir (CEO, Thane DCCB), Shri Dilip N Dighe (Managing Director, M.S.Coop.Bank), and other dignitaries were present.


In her inauguration, Dr. Hema Yadav (Director, CICTAB, and VAMNICOM) highlighted the role played by VAMNICOM at the national level to take forward the initiatives of Ministry of Cooperation. In her speech, she said that VAMNICOM is recognized as a center of excellence for management education and training in the cooperative sector of the country. Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management is a national-level apex cooperative management institute under the Ministry of Cooperatives, Government of India. VAMNICOM was established in 1967. She mentioned in her talk that we are in line with “Viksit Bharat 2024″. VAMNCOM is committed to contributing to cooperative sector by delivering excellence in training and education.
Dr. Y. S. Patil (Associate Professor, VAMNICOM) gave information about the 57 years of the organization’s journey since its inception.
Dr. Minesh Shah (Chairman, NDDB, Gujrat) said that the contribution of VAMNICOM in the cooperative sector is huge by creating skilled professionals and increasing efficiency and sustainability. In his speech, he highlighted the growth of dairy production in India. VAMNICOM runs various courses that are complementary to agribusiness and boost the country’s economy. The dairy business has been encouraged due to cooperatives. That is why nearly eight crore citizens of the country get income from the dairy business. 75% of the revenue generated by dairy cooperatives is paid back to members of the cooperative. The co-operative sector is an important factor for a self-reliant India.
Prof. Dr. Suresh Gosavi (Vice Chancellor, SPPU) said that VAMNICOM has made a lot of progress in the last five years. In his talk, he mentioned the evolution of different technologies in India and the creation of technology at the local level. He emphasizes that “local is vocal.” In his speech, he focused on working with VAMNICOM under the New Education Policy 2020, to give exposure of society to students of SPPU. He also showed an inclination towards conducting a research study on “energy security” in Maharashtra villages.
Dilip Valse Patil (Hon’ble Minister of Cooperation, Government of Maharashtra) gave best wishes to VAMNICOM on the 57th Foundation Day. He mentioned in his speech that VAMNICOM, the national-level organization for education and training for cooperatives, has done remarkable work in the field of cooperatives. He shared that everyone has seen the cooperative movement. After independence, cooperation was seen as a source of social transformation. He shared the contribution of cooperative leaders like Vaikunth Mehta and D. Gadgil in the cooperative Sector. The cooperative sector is not limited to banks; it includes Sugar, consumers, dairy, etc. He gave more focus to professional skill development for the board directors of PACS. As per the initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation, a total of 152 different sustainable business options are available to PACS. He shared that India had formed Bharatiya Beej Sahkari Samiti Limited (BBSSL), National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL), and National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL) which will help PACS become sustainable in the future. He added in his speech that in the coming future, with DCCB and VAMNICOM we will conduct some training programs for PACS -BOD to upgrade their skill sets
On the occasion of Foundation Day, VAMNICOM has given awards to ABM students to motivate them.
