Pune (P&V news service):- Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) Tourism has announced exciting travel packages for Punekars during the India International Travel Mart (IITM), an event for Pune-based travel agents and tour operators. IITM is being held from November 26 to 28 at the Deccan College Grounds, Yerawada.
IITM is an important travel event for reaching out to the Pune market and serves as a platform to promote the Department’s ambitious theme “J&K Tourism! New Hopes, New
Destinations”.

The Department is focusing on Pune as a traditional market for J&K Tourism. During the event, focus was put on the 75 mesmerising and lesser-known destinations, which were recently launched by the Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah during his visit to the valley.
Tourist attractions of the region were showcased to encourage Pune-based holidaymakers
to visit the Union Territory.

The Officers who attended the event from J&K Tourism include: 1) Sh Vivekanand Rai (IRS), Director Tourism, Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, 2) Dr GN Ittoo, Director Tourism, Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, 3) Mr Waseem Raja, Additional Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir Tourism, 4) Mr Bashir Ahmad Wani – Tourist Officer, Jammu & Kashmir Tourism (Mumbai).
The event featured a detailed presentation, various short films on known and off-beat destinations of Jammu and Kashmir, and Grand Kashmiri Houseboats.

These efforts are part of the extensive winter tourism promotional campaigns being held across major Indian cities. After the second wave of COVID-19, the Department has intensified its promotional campaign and organized several grand events, including the Houseboat Festival, which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah.

The Department has also taken several measures for revival of the tourism sector. This has resulted in record domestic tourist footfall. Tourists are enjoying visiting scenic locations in Gulmarg, Srinagar, Pahalgam, Patnitop, Sanasar, Natha Top, Sonmarg and Doodhpathri.

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is a great tourist destination. The picturesque and enchanting Kashmir is cradled high in the lofty green Himalayas and hailed all over the world for its incredible natural beauty. Surrounded by mountain peaks, lush green valleys, glistening lakes, temples, forts, spectacular gardens, arts and crafts, it has inspired poets through centuries. Flavourful Kashmiri cuisine and apples and walnuts from the lush orchards surrounding it add to the charms of the region.
In winter, Kashmir takes on a white glow, covered in soft snow with skiers making a beeline for its famous slopes. In summer, as the snow melts, and the flowers in the meadows bloom, it resembles an artist’s canvas.

Meanwhile, Jammu lies on the banks of the pristine Tapi river. It is dotted with hundreds of temples. From the popular Hindu pilgrimage of Mata Vaishno Devi, which is located nearby, to scores of religious places set in picturesque surroundings, Jammu is rightly called the ‘City of temples’.

With such a great diversity in tourism products and destinations, J&K is truly a complete destination for any tourist.
