Growing Presence of Women in Corporate Sector Inspires a New Era of Empowerment

Pune: Rapid changes in social conditions in recent times have significantly influenced women’s education as well as their economic empowerment. As a result, the presence of women at various levels in the corporate sector in India is steadily increasing. This trend is both positive and inspiring, and it further strengthens the movement towards women’s empowerment opined various female corporates.

IndSearch Institute of Management organised a special programme on Saturday 14th March to felicitate women from the management and corporate sectors. A panel discussion on the topic “Successful Contribution and Growth of Women in the Corporate Sector” was also held.

The discussion featured Aru Uppal, Head of HR – Global People Status, Intangles Pune; Shilpa Nimbalkar, HR Head (AVP) at Bitwise; and Neha Kulkarni, Head of HR -PSBU Engineering, Cummins India, Pune. Aparna Tendulkar, Director of IndSearch was present on the occasion .

Aru Uppal Head of HR – Global People Status, Intangles Pune said that women today are getting increasing opportunities in the corporate sector. To make the most of these opportunities, we must acquire knowledge across diverse fields and avoid limiting ourselves to a single domain. Understanding areas such as production, marketing, and other functions can help achieve greater career growth.

Shilpa Nimbalkar, HR Head ( AVP) at Bitwise; emphasised that confidence plays a crucial role in achieving success in any field. It is important to stand firm on one’s views and present them positively and convincingly. With this ability, individuals can certainly succeed in the corporate world. She added that instead of seeking special concessions as women, it is more beneficial for women to acquire knowledge and opportunities on par with men, which can help them progress faster.

Neha Kulkarni, Head of HR -PSBU Engineering, Cummins India, Pune noted that while the number of women has increased at the management level in the corporate sector, their representation in top leadership roles remains relatively low. Rapid technological changes are influencing the corporate world, and adopting modern technologies such as AI can significantly support women’s personal and professional growth.

The program was organised to mark International Women’s Day. On this occasion, the guests were honoured by presenting them with the “Certificate of Honour” by the institute.
Dr. Aparna Tembulkar (Director, IndSearch), Dr. Suwarna Shidore, Dr. Avinash Joshi, Dr. Megha Bagade, Prof. Varsha Kedar, Dr. Bidhisha Sarkhel, and Prof. Ritesh Giri were present for the event.
The panel discussion was moderated by Vidula Kulkarni and Tej Sharma, and the program was compered by Sumedh Waghmare and Shravani Kulkarni.
