POGS organises various initiatives to mark ‘Breastfeeding Week’

Pune (Voice News Service): The Pune Obstetric & Gynecological Society in association with study on female breast committee, FOGSI  organised a National Conference BREASTCON 2023 on 30th July at PYC Hindu Gymkhana to mark  The International Breastfeeding Week .  This conference was inaugurated by Dr. Rajendrasing Pardeshi, President Association of Maharashtra Obstetrics and Gynaecological societies (AMOGS)  & noted marathi film actress Ms. Mrunal Kulkarni in presence of   Dr. Meenu Agarwal, President POGS,Dr Ashwini Kale Vice President POGS ,  Dr. Vaishali Chavan, Gen. Secretary POGS and Conveners of Breastcon– Dr. Charulata Bapaye & Dr. Mangala Wani. The conference including various scientific sessions, keynotes and panel discussions. The highlight of the conference was workshop on ‘Core Needle Biopsy Technique’.

Various experts opined that BREASTFEEDING can reduce the infant mortality rate and reduce the risk of breast cancer.

As a part of this program – STANPAAN- Amulya Kaam a social program was also organised at the Kalakaar Katta, Good Luck Chowk. It showcased a Streetplay  highlighting  the importance of Breastfeeding & Breast health and  dispelling myths & facts about breastfeeding & breast Cancer and an awareness walk by POGS members.

The monthly journal Speculum on the theme ‘Breast Health’ was released at the hands of dignitaries. 

Three veteran doctors – Dr.Nishikant Shrotri , Dr Aparna Shrotri and Dr.Reena Wani were felicitated for their contribution in the field of breast health and lactation .
