On the occasion of\u00a0Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, National Museum of Indian Cinema is exhibiting Satyajit Ray\u2019s Gallery and screening films made by and on Satyajit Ray<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pune (P&V News Service): On the occasion of commemoration of Satyajit Ray\u2019s Birth Centenary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has initiated various activities to pay tribute to the legendary filmmaker, National Museum of Indian Cinema, Mumbai shall have a three day film festival at various venues across India to celebrate his films. The screening of films made by & made on Satyajit Ray, shall be held at\u00a0New Delhi , Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru & Pune\u00a0<\/strong>on 2nd<\/sup>\u00a03rd<\/sup>& 4th<\/sup>\u00a0May 2022. The screenings at all venues is for free.\u00a0The audiences will appreciate a slate of films that celebrate Ray\u2019s life and also they will get to experience his celebrated films on big screens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National Museum of Indian Cinema, Mumbai in association with National Film Development Corporation, Films Division, National Film Archives of India & Doordarshan and supported by Government of West Bengal and Aurora Film Corporation & Friends Communication is organizing the Film Festival. The Satyajit Ray film festival shall begin with the red carpet & inauguration of the Satyajit Ray\u2019s semi-permanent Gallery by Multi honoured Shri Shyam Benegal on 2nd<\/sup> May 2022 at 10:00 AM followed by the screening of the opening film at the festivalAparajito<\/em><\/strong>, which is it\u2019s \u2018IndiaPremier\u2019, the film is produced by Shri Firdausul Hassan& Probal Haldar and directed by Shri Anik Datta, inspired by the making of Satyajit Ray’s Pather Panchali<\/em><\/strong>. Furthermore, a panel discussion is scheduled to be held on 4th<\/sup> May 2022 at 4:00 PM post the screening of Pather Panchali<\/em><\/strong>(Satyajit Ray\u2019s directorial debut feature),the closing film of the festival. The panel discussion shall be live on NFDC\u2019s official Facebook for all audiences especially the cinephiles & aficionados of Ray\u2019s work. The panellists will be Shri Shyam Benegal, Shri Barun Chanda(actor from Ray\u2019s Seemabadh) & Shri Shantanu Moitra, it will be moderated by  Shri Shankhayan Ghosh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People have seen Ray’s films in some form or the other yet this time we invite  Ray lovers for our handpicked package on the big screens in selected theatres for free in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune from 2nd May to the 4th May 2022. AboutNational Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC) \u2013<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Museum is housed in two buildings \u2013 the New Museum Building<\/em> and the 19th<\/sup> century historic palace Gulshan Mahal<\/em> \u2013 both at the Films Division campus in Mumbai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gulshan Mahal is an ASI Grade-II Heritage Structure which has been restored as part of the NMIC project. The displays present here showcase the journey of over a hundred years of Indian cinema. It is divided into 9 sections viz. The Origin of Cinema, Cinema comes to India, Indian Silent Film, Advent of Sound, The Studio Era, The impact of World War II, Creative Resonance, New Wave and Beyond and Regional Cinema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) \u2013<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incorporated in the year 1975 National Film Development Corporation Ltd is formed by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (Government of India) with the primary objective of promoting the good cinema movement in India.
