The expansion will take the total number of Ashray centres to 200, with Amazon on track to reach 250 centres by the end of 2026. The company also announced the expansion of its mobile Ashray vans to Bengaluru — the fourth city after Delhi NCR,

Mumbai and Hyderabad. Two mobile Ashray vans were flagged off in Bengaluru in the presence of Sandy Gordon, Vice President, Employee Experience & Relations, Amazon, and Brendan Branon, Vice President of North America (NA) Employee Relations (ER).

“With the festive season driving a sharp increase in deliveries, it’s more important than ever that drivers across the industry have access to rest on their routes. Ashray was built on a simple idea — that every delivery driver, whether they deliver for Amazon or not, deserves a clean, cool place to rest during their workday. Expanding to 200 centres and bringing mobile vans to more cities means we can reach more drivers in more cities, right when they need it most. This expansion is part of Amazon India’s broader

investment of over INR 2,800 crore (~USD 300 million) in 2026 to strengthen associate safety, health, and financial well-being across its operations network,” said Salim R. Memon, Director — Operations, Amazon India.

Launched in 2024 in Delhi NCR, Ashray centres have since scaled rapidly to become one of the largest delivery driver welfare initiatives of its kind in India. The Ashray centres are open to all delivery drivers including those who do not deliver for Amazon, and are equipped with air-conditioned seating, drinking water, charging points for mobile phones, clean washrooms, first-aid kits, and comfortable resting space. Each centre accommodates 10–15 people at a time, allows free access for up to 30 minutes per visit with convenient parking, and operates year-round from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at high-footfall locations such as petrol pumps and commercial spaces. Ashray centre locations are listed on Google Maps for easy discovery.

While Ashray centres serve drivers near established locations, the mobile Ashray vans bring similar convenience as a fully air conditioned unit stationed along high-footfall delivery routes so drivers can access rest and hydration support. Each van is equipped with air-conditioned seating, drinking water, free Wi-Fi connectivity and charging points for mobile phones.

· 2024: Pilot launched with Ashray centres across Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai

· 2025: Scaled to 100 centres across 16 cities

· May 2026: 50 new Ashray centres added, taking the total to 150; mobile Ashray vans launched in Delhi NCR

· Sep 2026: 50 additional Ashray centres announced, taking the total to 200; mobile Ashray vans live in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru — on track for 250 Ashray centres by end of year

Pune: Ahead of the festive season, Amazon India announced plans to set up 50 new Ashray centres across the country.
