Pune: Someshwar Foundation will organise the Vinayaki Sports Festival 2026 from July 26 to August 22, 2026, to commemorate the birth anniversary of former MLA Late Vinayak Nimhan. Significantly, the Foundation has been successfully organising this multi-sport festival continuously for the last 27 years, providing a platform for talented and aspiring sportspersons from across Maharashtra.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the festival, Sunny Vinayak Nimhan, Member of Someshwar Foundation and Corporator, said that Late Vinayak Nimhan had initiated the tradition of organising sports competitions on his birthday to encourage young athletes. The Foundation has continued this legacy over the past 27 years with the objective of nurturing sporting talent and providing athletes an opportunity to showcase their abilities. As in previous years, all the events have received an overwhelming response from players and sports enthusiasts, with registrations pouring in for the various competitions.<\/p>\n

An Open District Roller Skating Championship will be held on July 26 at Perry Dot Hall, Sunny’s World, Pashan-Sus Road. The competition is open to boys and girls in the 6 to 18 years age group. Around 100 skaters have already confirmed their participation. Winners will receive trophies and certificates, while every participant will be awarded a medal. The 3rd Late Vinayak Nimhan State Ranking Carrom Championship, organised under the aegis of the Maharashtra Carrom Association and Carrom Association of Pune, will be held from August 7 to 9 at Sunny Sports Kingdom, Sunny’s World, Pashan-Sus Road. Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles events will be conducted, with a total prize purse of Rs.1.10 lakh to be distributed among the top eight finishers in both categories. Entries are available on the Maharashtra Carrom Association website, and the last date for registration is July 22, 2026.<\/p>\n

Under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation and the Maharashtra Chess Association, an International Open Rapid Rating Chess Tournament will be organised on August 1 and 2 at Perry Dot Hall, Sunny’s World. Around 200 players have already confirmed their participation.<\/p>\n

The tournament will feature leading players including FIDE Master R. S. Gupta (2185), Arena International Master Aloukik Sinha, Arena FIDE Master Samyak Kulkarni, Naitik Mane, and Canadian player Viaan Kalgate, among several rated players. The event carries a total prize fund of Rs.2 lakh, with trophies and certificates for the winners. The last date for registration is July 29, 2026.<\/p>\n

The Yonex Sunrise Someshwar Cup 2026 District Badminton Championship, held under the aegis of the Pune Metropolitan District Badminton Association, will take place on August 1 and 2 at The Life Sports, Someshwarwadi, Pashan.<\/p>\n

Competitions will be conducted in the Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 boys’ and girls’ categories, along with Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles in the senior section. The last date for registration is July 26, 2026, through\u00a0poonagame.com<\/a>. Winners and runners-up will receive trophies and cash prizes.<\/p>\n

An Invitational District Mallakhamb Championship, organised under the aegis of the Pune District Mallakhamb Association, will be held on August 9 at Perry Dot Hall, Sunny’s World. More than 300 athletes have already registered. The competition will be conducted in the Under-8, Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14 categories for boys and girls. Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies and certificates.<\/p>\n

The District Open Taekwondo Championship, organised under the aegis of the Pune District Taekwondo Association, will be held on August 21 and 22 at Perry Dot Hall, Sunny’s World.<\/p>\n

Competitions will be conducted in the Freshers, Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior and Senior categories in both Kyorugi and Poomsae disciplines. Around 500 players are expected to participate. Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies, certificates and T-shirts, while a Best Fighter Award will also be presented.<\/p>\n

A District Open Invitational Indoor Archery Championship, organised under the aegis of the Pune District Archery Association, will be held on August 8 and 9 at Perry Dot Hall, Sunny’s World, Pashan-Sus Road.<\/p>\n

The championship, being organised for the first time in Pune in an indoor format, will be conducted in the Under-10, Under-13, Under-15, Under-18 and Under-21 age groups. Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies and certificates, while all participants will be presented with T-shirts and medals.<\/p>\n

Sunny Vinayak Nimhan appealed to sportspersons from across the state to participate in large numbers and make the Vinayaki Sports Festival a grand success, continuing the rich sporting legacy established by Late Vinayak Nimhan.<\/p><\/div>\n
