Writer and directed by Vikram Patwardhan, the film stars Nagraj Manjule, Amey Wagh, Mugdha Godse and Akshaya Gurav in pivotal roles. It presents a powerful, thought-provoking story that examines the emotional and moral cost of documenting tragedy through the lens of photojournalism. Frame is an intense social drama that explores the fragile line between professionalism and humanity, where ethics are constantly tested and morality exists in shades of grey. Set in the newsroom of a Pune-based newspaper, the film follows Chandu Pansare, a seasoned photojournalist driven by a ruthless “click first” philosophy, and Sidharth Deshmukh, an idealistic newcomer struggling to balance professional duty with compassion.

V.R. Hema, Chief Channel Officer – Zee Marathi and Business Head – Marathi Zee 5, said: “Marathi Zee 5 has become the default destination for well curated and powerful stories from across Maharashtra. In line with that vision we are proud to showcase- ‘Frame’ which is a powerful film that explores the difficult choices people face when professional responsibility crosses paths with human compassion. We are proud to collaborate with celebrated talent like Nagraj Manjule, Amey Wagh and Vikram Patwardhan, to bring such meaningful and thought-provoking stories to OTT. Frame is another step in our continued effort to present authentic Marathi stories that entertain, inspire, and leave a lasting impact.”

Director Vikram Patwardhan, added:“At its core, Frame is about perspective, not just through a camera lens, but through the lens of humanity itself. The relationship between Chandu and Sidharth allowed us to explore two very different philosophies of storytelling and survival. The film also delves into the uncertainty and unpredictability of life, placing its characters in situations where the line between humanity and professionalism becomes increasingly blurred, and choosing between compassion and duty turns into an overwhelming challenge.”

Nagraj Manjule said:“Playing Chandu was both fascinating and challenging because he isn’t a conventional protagonist. He is driven, uncompromising, and firmly believes that his job is to document reality, not interfere with it. The film constantly challenges his convictions, and audiences will find themselves questioning whether they agree with him or not.”
Amey Wagh shared: “Sidharth represents empathy, idealism, and the difficult questions many young professionals ask themselves when entering demanding industries. His journey in Frame is about discovering where compassion fits within ambition and responsibility. I think audiences will deeply connect with his struggles and the choices he is forced to make.”

Pune: Marathi Zee 5 has announced its upcoming original film Frame, an intense social drama that explores the fragile boundary between professionalism and humanity, where ethics are constantly tested.
