Pune (Voice news service):- Lakshya will felicitate athletes who have delivered outstanding performances across various sports disciplines at a felicitation ceremoney to be held on Saturday (March 28) at PYC Hindu Gymkhana. The Annual Felicitation Ceremony has been organised to recognise and encourage athletes for their achievements.
\nThe announcement was made in the presence of Olympian table tennis player Sharath Kamal, Grandmaster Abhijit Kunte, Lakshya Secretary Ashish Desai and Treasurer Bharat Shah. On this occasion, Lakshya also unveiled its official jersey.
\nSpeaking at the event, Sharath Kamal said, \u201cTo perform consistently at the international level, athletes require strong financial support.
\nWhen such backing is provided at the right time, it reduces mental pressure and allows players to focus entirely on their sport.\u201d He also shared that he will now take on the role of mentor at Lakshya, focusing on the overall development of athletes.
\nAmong the achievers, Vaishnavi Adkar, supported by Hodek, will be felicitated for winning the W35 title. Suhana Saini delivered an impressive performance at the Senior National Table Tennis Championship in Indore, winning a bronze medal in singles and a gold in mixed doubles, with support from Shrevate. Para javelin thrower Suchitra Parida, backed by RSB Group, continued her dominance by winning gold medals at the Delhi Grand Prix and the Senior National Championship. In badminton, Mansi Singh enjoyed a remarkable season, winning three international series titles with support from Morde.
\nTable tennis players Pritha Vartikar and Suhana Saini were also present, while badminton player Tara Shah will also be felicitated. The new Lakshya jersey was unveiled by the athletes.
\nGrandmaster Abhijit Kunte said, \u201cLakshya was established in 2010 with the aim of ensuring that talented athletes do not face obstacles in reaching the international level. So far, we have supported over 200 athletes, and currently, 35 athletes across 11 sports disciplines are being backed. Their training camp is also underway.\u201d
\nMr. Ashish Desai, Secretary, Lakshya said, \u201cOur goal is to create a structured and supportive environment for the holistic development of athletes. Through initiatives like conditioning camps and felicitation ceremonies, we not only recognise performances but also invest in their long-term growth.\u201d
\nMr. Bharat Shah, Treasurer, Lakshya added, \u201cThis platform helps athletes come together, learn, improve, and stay motivated. The response to our programmes has been very encouraging, and we remain committed to providing the right guidance and opportunities to emerging talent.\u201d
\nAs part of the initiative, Lakshya also organised a two-day training camp for athletes on March 27 and 28.
\nThe camp focused on performance enhancement through fitness assessments, sports science sessions, injury management, and athlete development modules. The Annual Felicitation Ceremony remains the highlight of the programme, celebrating the dedication, achievements, and progress of Lakshya athletes.
