Pune\u00a0\u2013 Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Ltd., today announced the successful plantation of\u00a05 lakh trees<\/strong>\u00a0under the\u00a0Hyundai IONIQ Forest\u00a0<\/strong>initiative. This milestone marks a significant step toward the project\u2019s goal of planting\u00a010 lakh trees in total\u00a0<\/strong>across\u00a090.5 acres\u00a0<\/strong>within a year at Dange Chowk, Pimpri-Chinchwad, making it one of the largest urban plantation in Maharashtra state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was attended by key dignitaries including Shri Sunil Shelke<\/strong>, Hon\u2019ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Maval Constituency, Pune; Shri Vishwajit Shrirang Barne; Dr Ratikant Navtake, <\/strong>Asst Commissioner, Department of Animal Husbandry, Tathwade, Pune;along with Mr. Jeongick Lee<\/strong>, Function Head \u2013 Corporate Affairs, HMIL, Mr. Shyamkumar Singh<\/strong>, Function Lead, Production (Pune), HMIL, Mr. Puneet Anand<\/strong>, AVP & Vertical Head \u2013 Corporate Affairs, Corporate Communication & Social, HMIL, and other representatives from HMIL and Oriearth Nature Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launched on World Environment Day, June 5, 2025<\/strong>, the IONIQ Forest began with the plantation of 1,000 saplings using the Miyawaki method<\/strong>, a technique known for creating dense, fast-growing, and biodiverse forests. The project uses 41 native tree species<\/strong>, ensuring ecological resilience and promoting biodiversity by creating natural habitats for birds, insects, and other fauna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative is deeply rooted in community participation, focusing on sustainable environmental practices that benefit both people and the planet. Over the next five years, the forest is projected to absorb approximately 63,000 tons of CO<\/strong>\u2082<\/strong>, making a measurable impact on climate resilience and inclusive growth. It has also created green jobs<\/strong> for over 100 individuals from tribal communities<\/strong>, while also promoting ecosystem restoration<\/strong>, water conservation<\/strong> through rainwater harvesting and check dams, and sustainable land use practices<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the initiative Shri Sunil Shelke<\/strong>, Hon\u2019ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Maval Constituency, said \u201cThis initiative is a powerful demonstration of corporate responsibility aligned with environmental stewardship. Once completed, the forest will be opened to schools and local communities<\/strong> for educational tours and environmental awareness programs, fostering a culture of sustainability among future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
