Delivered through an emergency C-section, the new-born required immediate resuscitation and was swiftly admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for severe respiratory distress.
What followed was a roller-coaster of uncertainty. Within 48 hours, the baby developed Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC)—a serious intestinal disease that affects premature infants. With signs of sepsis, urinary retention, and abdominal distension, the case escalated into a critical emergency. A prompt diagnosis by the NICU team led to an exploratory laparotomy and ileo-ileal anastomosis—a delicate surgery performed by Paediatric Surgeon Dr. Pranav Jadhav, marking a decisive turn in the baby’s survival.
“It was not just a medical challenge—it was an emotional journey. Every heartbeat, every feed tolerated, was a milestone. This baby has redefined what it means to fight for life,” said Dr. Ashwin Borade, the senior paediatrician.
Following the surgery, the baby remained in the NICU under close observation. The team, led by Dr. Ashwin Borade and Dr. Anand S. Narnaware, cautiously reintroduced feeding, navigated periods of feed intolerance, and constantly reassured and trained the anxious parents. The collaboration between neonatologists, surgeons, nurses, and caregivers was a shining example of Inamdar’s philosophy of holistic, family-centered care.
On May 10, 2025, after 20 emotionally charged days in the NICU, the baby was discharged—feeding well, neurologically stable, and with all major screening results, including for hydrocephalus, anemia of prematurity, and hearing loss, coming back normal.
“Every NICU success story is a story of hope—for the family, for the team, and for every parent who walks into our hospital scared and uncertain,” added Dr. Narnaware, NICU and PICU incharge.
The resilience of this child has left an indelible mark on the hospital’s NICU team. For the family, the experience was one of fear transformed into faith—faith in expertise, empathy, and excellence.

Pune: In a deeply moving testament to the miracles that modern medicine and compassionate care can bring about, Inamdar Multispeciality Hospital proudly announces the successful recovery and discharge of a 20-day-old preterm baby who battled multiple life-threatening complications soon after birth.Born on the night of April 19, 2025, at just 34 weeks and 6 days […]

[80,123,44

post-20862","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-health","category-hospital","category-pune
["GET
