Marking 20 years of \u2018Connecting Trust,\u2019 an organization dedicated to suicide prevention and emotional support, a seminar titled \u2018Listening to the Voices of Women\u2019 was organized. The event featured thought-provoking insights from Barkha Bajaj (Founder, AKS Foundation), Sister Lucy Kurien (Founder, \u2018Maher\u2019), Advocate Sandhya Deshpande, Transgender Rights Activist Kadambari Shaikh, and Senior Editor Corina Manuel. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Megha Deuskar, a sociologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meher Padamji, Chairperson, Thermax Group& Arnavaz Damania, Founder & Managing Director of Connecting Trust, were present as the Chief Guest. Representatives from the Muskan Foundation and Stree Mukti Sanghatana, who shared their experiences<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kadambari Shaikh highlighted the complex struggles of transgender individuals, stating, \u201cOur own families reject us first, followed by society, which forces us into a specific lifestyle. I have faced severe hardships, but I overcame them, earned two degrees, and built a career as a makeup artist. Yet, the pressure from family and society always imposes limitations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sister Lucy Kurien shed light on the struggles of illiterate and semi-educated women, emphasizing that \u201cThey face greater helplessness and vulnerability.\u201d Advocate Sandhya Deshpande spoke from a legal perspective, stating that helping oppressed women find their voice is a major challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Barkha Bajaj pointed out that women experience higher emotional stress in relationships, often suppressing their feelings due to fear, shame, and societal judgment. Corina Manuel stressed the importance of creating a support system where women feel heard and understood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Expressing gratitude, Arnavaz Damania acknowledged the dedication and perseverance of the team at Connecting Trust, stating that \u201cBeing a woman is a challenging journey, and the organization\u2019s work for the past 20 years has been possible only because of our team\u2019s commitment and empathy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
