Pune: The Suryadatta Group of Institutes Pune has organized the ‘Suryadatta Yogawari Arogyathon-2024’ on the occasion of the tenth International Yoga Day. A large number of students and teachers participated for two consecutive hours from 10 am to 12 am and danced on various types of yoga and religious songs. This unique initiative, which raises awareness about the Pandharpur pilgrimage, various religious journeys, and physical and mental health, has been recorded in the India Star World Records.

The initiative was organized under the guidance of the founder president of Suryadatta Education Foundation, Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, and Vice President Sushma Chordiya. Yoga instructors Sonali Sasane and Savita Gandhi conducted yoga demonstrations. Associate Vice President Snehal Navalkha, Dean Dr. Pratiksha Wable, Director Prashant Pitaliya, Principal Dr. Simi Retharekar, Vandana Pandey, Hemant Jain, along with all principals, HoDs, teachers, non-teaching staff, and students were present in large numbers. Prof. Dr. Sunil Dhangar coordinated the program. The students of Hotel Management arranged nutritious snacks for everyone.

Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya said, “On the occasion of Yoga Day, unique and different programs are organized every year at Suryadatta. Previously, record-breaking initiatives such as ‘Kala Arogyam Yogathon’ and ‘Taal Arogyam Yogathon’ have been organized, and they have been recognized by various international institutions. This year, the initiative ‘Suryadatta Yogawari Yatra Arogyathon’ was undertaken. Maharashtra is the land of saints. In this sacred land, there is a great heritage of the devotion to Vitthal by Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj. Millions of people undertake the pilgrimage from Dehu-Alandi to Pandharpur. Thousands of people participate in the pilgrimage. During the monsoon, it is essential to take care of one’s health and have a good diet. Keeping all these things in mind, a new concept called ‘Aachar, Vichar, and Aahar’ (Conduct, Thought, and Diet) was implemented.”

“Just as the Warkaris undertake their pilgrimage on foot, keeping rhythm and beat, similarly, the students performed yoga and dance to the tunes of pilgrimage and devotional songs. Various types of asanas were recorded for a continuous 120 minutes. A global prayer was made through yoga in a devotional manner, wishing for world peace to prevail and for the upcoming pilgrimage and all other journeys to be pleasant. During the event, doctors and volunteer supervisors monitored the participants. If anyone faced any issues, they were immediately checked and provided with appropriate medical services. We believe that such a record has been set for the first time not only in India but also in the world. Such initiatives are important for fostering physical and mental health, ultimately contributing to the development of a bright generation,” noted Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya.

After two continuous hours of yoga demonstrations, a Surya Namaskar competition was held. Twenty children participated in this. Among them, two children performed 125 Surya Namaskars, while some children did more than 70 Surya Namaskars. In this competition, Neeraj Bub (first), Komal Shreeshreemal (second), Sanika Bhatkar (third), Omkar Raut, and Purnima Shiralkar (encouragement) won cash prizes & certicates.
