Independence Day Greetings with Unique Installations

Collaborative effort by PMC and BNCA

Pune:  In a collaborative effort the Pune Municipal Corporation and MKSSS’s Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture for Women (BNCA) created two symbolic 3D installations to celebrate the Independence Day.
Architect Nikhil Mijar from PMC led the initiative.
These installations, featuring the designs of ‘Arch’  and ‘Namaste’ (greeting), were displayed near Sambhaji Park on Jangli Maharaj Road and in front of the Shinde-Bhosle Arcade.
The sculptures were conceptualized by Prof. Amar Shetty of the Post Graduate Department of Digital Architecture at BNCA under the guidance of Prof. Dhanashree Sardeshpande, with support from Dr. Anurag Kashyap, Principal of BNCA, and Vice Principal Dr. Sharveya Dhongde.

The ‘Namaste’ installation, made of curved hollow tubes woven with wire, and the ‘Arch’ with embedded pentagonal shapes, became popular selfie points for Pune’s residents. The project was supported by Yogesh Kulkarni, supervisor of BNCA’s Digital Fabrication Lab (DFL), and his team, including carpenters Nilesh Jadhav, Ahmad Shaikh, Tejas along with Mukesh, Swapneel and others. The administrative part was handled   by Amol Hinge, Shilpa Pathak, and Atul Bhalekar.
