Under the project Handmade in India female Weavers got a platform through ‘Mahishmati Loom to Mall’ initiative

Pune- Under the Project Handmade in India run by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII),The exhibition ‘Mahishmati-Loom to Mall’ was inaugurated by the fashion show director Chaitanya Gokhale. It has been organised with the aim of giving a pedestal to the women weavers of the state.This exhibition will be open for all from 12 to 9 pm till March 27 at Tilak Smarak Mandir at Tilak Road. In the exhibition, Maheshwari Silk & Cotton Sarees, Dress Material, stols, Shirting Fabric etc. will be sold directly to the customers by weavers. The Handmade in India project aided by HSBC is providing self-reliance training to 8000 weavers in handloom clusters across India.

Coordinator Mr. Surendra Jain and Kapil Kumar (Subject Expert) of EDII said that, this exhibition is an attempt to give direct market to the women weavers of Maheshwar especially and to connect the customers directly with the manufacturer by avoiding middlemen. With this the weavers and the customers will be able to connect directly with each other. In this project, 1000 handloom weavers have taken more than 250 entrepreneurship development training since 2019.
